BSN Is Serious About Developing Education About Standardization :

In the opening of the International Workshop held by Faculty of Engineering of Diponegoro University in Semarang, on October 21, 2009, the Head of National Standardization Body (BSN), Dr. Bambang Setiadi extended that BSN is highly serious about disseminating information on the significance of standards both in scientific level and practice level.

Last year, BSN signed cooperation agreements with 9 universities in Indonesia on the development of education about standardization and will cooperate with other 7 universities this year. According to Dr. Bambang Setiadi, many standardization experts are required this time. Therefore, universities as educational institutions to produce people to play the significant roles in the global business in the future begin to develop education about standardization. The government in this case BSN highly supports the development of standardization curriculum jointly with universities.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Bambang Setiadi challenged the universities to participate in developing standards related to the existing potentials in their regions to strengthen their competitiveness in the international trade. Universities are BSN's partners in the development of standards in Indonesia. The International Workshop with a theme ""How to Develop Education About Standardization For Developing Countries" opened by Vice Rector of Diponegoro University in the Field of Cooperation and Development, Dr. Muhammad Nur took place for 2 days on October 21 - 22, 2009 in Semarang, Central Java.




The workshop held in the framework of commemorating the World Standard Day presented the international and national level speakers, among others Mr. Toshi Kurokawa (Ex-ICES President); Mr. Kong Young Kyu (Practitioner from Korea); Dra. Dewi Odjar Ratna Komala, MM (Deputy in the Field of Standardization Information and Socialization - BSN); Dr. Ing Amir Partowiyatmo (Main Secretary of BSN); Dr. Haris Iskandar (Secretary of the Director General of Universities of the Ministry of National Education); Tribudi Widodo (MASTAN Indonesia); Arifin Lambaga (PT Mutu Agung Lestari); Sriati Djaprie (Unas); and Dr. Bambang Purwanggono (Undip). 60 participants being the representatives of universities and industries throughout Indonesia were present in the workshop.
